- All poems MUST be the original work of the entrant. Any breach of originality will result in disqualification from the judging and may be subject to further legal action where applicable.
- Poems must not have been published previously or have won any prize in any previous competition of any kind. Entrants do not need to be unpublished poets, but the poems submitted must be unpublished.
- Poems must not be entered in any other contest, nor simultaneously offered elsewhere for publication.
- Poems will be judged on literary merit.
- The next deadline is May 10, 2010. The deadline has been extended to Sunday, May 30, 2010. Entries must received on or before the deadline to be considered for the current contest. Multiple entries may be submitted, but no more than 3 per $5 entry fee.
- Winners will be announced publicly in June, 2010 on our web site at: www.shakespearesmonkeys.com and will be printed in the next issue of Shakespeare’s Monkey Revue.
- By accepting a prize, any winner of a cash prize authorizes Shakespeare’s Monkeys to use the winning entry in print and on site in perpetuity. All poets retain copyright and all other publication rights to their work. We place no restrictions on the rights of winners to publish or sell their work elsewhere following the announcement of prizes.
- Prizes will sent by first class postal mail. Payments are made by international postal money order so that prizes may be cashed at a post office by the winners without bank charges being assessed. Winners need not be in attendance at the prize announcements to receive their prizes. Prizes are paid in American dollars. ALL PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED.
- Entrants do not need membership to Shakespearesmonkeys.com, monkey193.com or any affiliated sites, nor do members of the site receive any benefit in judging or entry.
- Poems will be judged blindly by the editorial board of Shakespeare’s Monkey Revue. The judges will have no knowledge of the identity of the poet for any poem.
